Fyfe & Arista L.A Show
Hello people of Guillemots Facebook .. just a very quick note for the attention of any of you in the City of Angels, USA ..
I’m visiting Arista out in California at the moment, and we thought we might as well play a tiny little show while I was out here.
So we booked the Hotel Cafe at 10pm on Tuesday June 17th – my last night of this trip, fact fans – we’ll play some Guillemots songs, some others of mine and Arista’s, and the odd cover perhaps. I reckon we’ll be on for about an hour or so and I believe a piano will be involved.
Tickets can be bought here
And that’s it for now! No other news for you at the moment .. but more and more gardens are coming into bloom ..
Loads of love,

A Message from the Long-Eared Owl
Message from the Long-Eared Guillemots Ambassador!
|Hello good people!
I hope you are all very well and feeling iridescent ..
Here is a picture from online of a Long Eared Owl.
So this is me Fyfe writing on behalf of ye Guillemots music & sonic clan.
I just wanted to keep you people updated about this new album, the next one in the four-album-series-that-was-supposed-to-take-one-year-in-total-but-has-ended-up-having-a-more-open-ended-timescale-but-will-still-definitely-happen-as-a-four-album-series-in-its-own-due-course-of-course-oh!-oh!-oh!-oh!-there’s-just-so-much-music-to-make-and-that’s-just-the-way-it-should-be ..
I haven’t been putting much online just because I’d expect you’d get a bit bored of notices popping up like a cuckoo clock every two weeks going “it’s nearly done now!”.
But this note is just to say, to anyone that is wondering – I’ve been constantly going back and forth between the UK and Jonas’s place in Norway over these last few months, carrying on working on this new record .. and it’s as exciting me as much as ever, and it really is not far from being done now, but quite how far “far” is .. well, who can be sure? Anyway, I haven’t emigrated to the Bahamas to produce bassoon-based reggae funk or anything .. though one day, maybe ..
It’s just become a beautiful thing that really means a great deal to me personally, and the thought of it being released before it is everything I believe it can be is very uuuuuuuuggggghhhhhh . .
In conversations recently I’ve decided that maybe it’s a bit like perfumery. I know nothing about perfumery. But so much of the time is just spent trying things, trying this, trying that, trying to balance things in infinitely variable ways just to end up with the right feeling – the right fragrance if you like! – that can transport you away into a magical place. I don’t go to a magical place every time I put after-shave on but you know what I mean. The only way you can know if the music’s working is by the feeling it gives you. Chasing the feeling – that’s what it’s all been about. “That sounds good” is not enough ..
This probably all sounds like needless philosophy when all you guys want really is a release date, but I can’t give you a release date yet because we don’t know it yet! But I will let you know when we know. In the meantime, though, please take it from me, the horse-bird’s mouth, that work has not ceased in trying to create something that will make you people really really happy when you do finally get to hear it, even if you had to wait a bit longer than we all first thought you would. It’ll be worth it, I reckon. And it’s a really special thing to know that there are actually some of you out there waiting to hear it too .. that means a LOT, ye all ..
As for shows, there aren’t currently any plans because until this is all done I can’t really get my head around having live dates lined up. But there are ideas for shows, for sure! Big ideas! But one thing at a time ..
So .. in the meantime, thank you all so much, and I’ll let you know once there’s more news ..
With loads of love,
Your short-sighted, long-eared Guillemots ambassador, as ever
Fyfe “Sweet Potato” Dangerfield xx

Christmas message from Fyfe on the website!
News | Guillemots | Our Online Home
* | – ^ .. Hallo! …
.. well, a few little things to say in this Yuletide. Firstly, have a wonderful Christmas. Secondly, may 2013 be a thing of dreams for you. Thirdly, thanks so much to anyone who bought Hello Land! this year or came to see us play. And fourthly – about this four album series – i’m really sorry to anyone that’s been waiting on the remaining three .. it was the most heartfelt plan, to get them all out this year .. but things haven taken on a life of their own, beyond pretty plans .. this second album has been like a world of hanging gardens i didn’t know were there. We could have put it out half-dressed .. sometimes that’s the perfect thing to do, but it didn’t seem right on this one.
Naturally a lot of the time has been spent walking down potentially magic roads only to find a skip full of rotting bananas, and having to turn round again .. but that’s part of any creativity. There’s also the times when a dolphin zooms over out of nowhere and throws you an emerald and a ripe pomegranate, and a piece of music suddenly sounds like it was always meant to. Trial and adventure. But you can start taking things far too seriously when you work on them too long without a break. So now – time with friends and family – then i return to Norway in January, the walking embodiment of a belly laugh.
As for the new timescale .. the honest answer is that i don’t know, but i won’t slack on you people. I do hope that it won’t be awfully long before you’re hearing this one .. and then .. onwards .. by some point or another, the four albums will appear. So much is still to become clear .. the future is uncertain .. but that’s wonderful – it leaves space for surprise .. and yes, indeed, i hope to fully surprise both you and us! The wildest dreams are flying back to me now! Did i join the circus a while back when i only meant to stay the night? Hmm. Not sure. But there can be no room for the predictable now – it’s wonderland or nothing, and we are in wonderland!
With true festive love,

A late update…
Hello there to ye all & one. This is a little note to highlight the fact that here and now we are giving you a free download of the track “Fleet” from our first album of the year “Hello Land!”. If you already have the album, then this will be of minimal excitement to you, but you can rest safe in the knowledge that you are LITERALLY one step ahead – of what, I’m not sure, but of something – because you already have our album. But if you don’t, and you enjoy listening to it, then, well, good. “Hello Land!” is ready and waiting for you HERE, should you like the idea of investigating further. I hope this is clear. Thank you.
Here also is a video shot by the resplendent Tim Chipping from a gig we did earlier in the year called Positive Blackout at the wonderful Village Underground venue. Both nights had a bunch of performances from all kinds of fish and fowl, well, no actually, just people, the only premise being that there was no amplification at all. And this is the bit in the night – well there were two nights, but this is one of them – where we sang “Fleet”.
Okay, I think this is all for now. The summer album is currently being incubated for you. Not sure if incubated is the right word there, that sounded wrong, but anyhow. . . something like that. Can’t wait for you to hear it. August, I hope. There is also talk of some sort of Twitter conversation between myself and whoever may like to ask things, at some point in the coming weeks. We will keep you informed of developments in this regard.
