So this is me Fyfe writing on behalf of ye Guillemots music & sonic clan.

I just wanted to keep you people updated about this new album, the next one in the four-album-series-that-was-supposed-to-take-one-year-in-total-but-has-ended-up-having-a-more-open-ended-timescale-but-will-still-definitely-happen-as-a-four-album-series-in-its-own-due-course-of-course-oh!-oh!-oh!-oh!-there’s-just-so-much-music-to-make-and-that’s-just-the-way-it-should-be ..

I haven’t been putting much online just because I’d expect you’d get a bit bored of notices popping up like a cuckoo clock every two weeks going “it’s nearly done now!”.

But this note is just to say, to anyone that is wondering – I’ve been constantly going back and forth between the UK and Jonas’s place in Norway over these last few months, carrying on working on this new record .. and it’s as exciting me as much as ever, and it really is not far from being done now, but quite how far “far” is .. well, who can be sure? Anyway, I haven’t emigrated to the Bahamas to produce bassoon-based reggae funk or anything .. though one day, maybe ..

It’s just become a beautiful thing that really means a great deal to me personally, and the thought of it being released before it is everything I believe it can be is very uuuuuuuuggggghhhhhh . .

In conversations recently I’ve decided that maybe it’s a bit like perfumery. I know nothing about perfumery. But so much of the time is just spent trying things, trying this, trying that, trying to balance things in infinitely variable ways just to end up with the right feeling – the right fragrance if you like! – that can transport you away into a magical place. I don’t go to a magical place every time I put after-shave on but you know what I mean. The only way you can know if the music’s working is by the feeling it gives you. Chasing the feeling – that’s what it’s all been about. “That sounds good” is not enough ..

This probably all sounds like needless philosophy when all you guys want really is a release date, but I can’t give you a release date yet because we don’t know it yet! But I will let you know when we know. In the meantime, though, please take it from me, the horse-bird’s mouth, that work has not ceased in trying to create something that will make you people really really happy when you do finally get to hear it, even if you had to wait a bit longer than we all first thought you would. It’ll be worth it, I reckon. And it’s a really special thing to know that there are actually some of you out there waiting to hear it too .. that means a LOT, ye all ..

As for shows, there aren’t currently any plans because until this is all done I can’t really get my head around having live dates lined up. But there are ideas for shows, for sure! Big ideas! But one thing at a time ..

So .. in the meantime, thank you all so much, and I’ll let you know once there’s more news ..
